Enfys Ecology is an ecological consultancy operating across North and Mid Wales, and into Cheshire, Shropshire and Wirral. We’re a wholly owned subsidiary of North Wales Wildlife Trust, and every pound of profit we make supports the Trust’s work bringing nature back and engaging communities in taking action for it.
We believe ecology done properly, early and clearly, prevents bigger problems later rather than causing them. We believe commercial delivery and genuine care for nature aren’t in tension, proving they reinforce each other is the reason this business exists. And we believe a client should never need to become an ecologist to work with us, our job is to take that weight off them, in plain English.
Rhian Hughes has led ecology at Enfys since 2010, when she revived an existing consultancy under North Wales Wildlife Trust ownership, building on hands on experience surveying bats, great crested newts and dormice. Jonathan Kinsey joined as Managing Director in 2026, working alongside the team and board to keep the business connected to the Trust’s wider mission while it operates with real commercial rigour. Around them, a team of permanent and seasonal ecologists, most CIEEM (Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management) members or working toward membership, and a habitat management team led by land management specialists.
We’re also a great place to work, not only for people who care about wildlife, but because of real professional development, interesting projects, and a business that lets people build a proper career here.
In 2024/25, our habitat management work at Enfinium’s Parc Adfer site won the Bionet Business Award for Contribution to Biodiversity, with biodiversity units on site up 25.79 percent since 2022, independently verified by SLR Consulting. We hold ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 accreditation and SafeContractor status, and we’re part of the wider Wildlife Trusts Consultancies network, giving us the ability to draw on expertise from other Wildlife Trust owned consultancies across the UK.
